Rocky Mountain spotted fever
Rocky Mountain spotted fever is perhaps the most deadly and most commonly reported illness of the rickettsial type that is commonly seen in the United States of America. This type of fever has been diagnosed all over the Americas. The Rocky Mountain spotted fever is caused due to the Rickettsia rickettsii, which is a class of bacterium that spreads to the human due to hard ticks. The early signs of the illness include an unexpected start of flu-like conditions, headache, and muscular pain, followed by the appearance of rash. An early diagnosis of the disease is difficult; and any delay in the diagnosis can have fatal results. The suitable antibiotic treatment should be started immediately when it is a suspected case of Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
